Yiyang, China — (Oct. 31st, 2023) — The opening and MLCC (Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor) production launch ceremony of Sunway Yiyang Electronic Technology Industrial Park took place in Yiyang High-Tech Zone in the presence of representatives from key customers, Sunway Communication top management and the local government.
The Sunway Yiyang Electronic Technology Industrial Park is located in the Yiyang High-Tech Zone, covering around 1,200 acres with a total building area of some 1.4 million square meters. It comprises over 20,000 square meters of office buildings and over 750,000 square meters of production floor. The Sunway Yiyang park focuses on the research, development and manufacturing of MLCCs, with the aim of establishing Yiyang as the ‘World Capital of Capacitors’. The monthly production capacity is expected to exceed 120 billion pcs in the near future.
MLCCs are known for high precision, large capacity, and small size, and is a fundamental and critical element of the electronics industry. Demand for MLCCs is driven by Sunway key market segments including automotive products and high-end consumer electronics devices such as 5G smartphones. For example, it is expected that the electrification of automobiles and implementation of autonomous drive will drive demand for MLCCs above 10,000 pcs per vehicle. The MLCC investments of Sunway Communication have already resulted in five major MLCC research centers located in Osaka and Tsukuba (Japan), Pyeongtaek (South Korea), as well as Shenzhen and Yiyang (China). Activities in these research centers over the past years have resulted in advanced ground-up knowledge ensuring an innovation leap in terms of MLCC capabilities.
